Blue sky, white clouds, green grass, red strawberries, golden melons and delicious village food constituted a pleasant trip in May, 2008. Foreign teachers, parents and students of YALC enjoyed this trip, which gave them the chance to commune closely with nature.
City children usually have only a vague impression of villages, fields and nature. However, children are inherently at one with nature and, together with their young parents, the students headed eagerly towards the fields. Masses of wildflowers were in bloom on both sides of the way, forming a most beautiful village scene.
The children thoroughly enjoyed picking strawberries, melons and a variety of vegetables and seemed oblivious to the heat of the greenhouses. Each family traveled back to Shanghai laden with fresh fruit and fragrant memories.
